I came to Martin, Tennessee, 15 years ago to teach at the University. I came from a small Northern Ontario town in Canada for my first full time teaching gig at UT Martin. Instantly I loved the area and the people. Being here reminded me of home and the community-like family I left in Canada.
Although my Ph.D. is in Brain, Behaviour, and Cognitive Sciences, my passion, passed down from my mother, is health. I started to take yoga classes from Kate when she came to Martin and began teaching at Trinity Presbyterian Church until she found the studio space. I continued on my health journey.
When Kate offered the teacher training, I was hesitant because of my crazy teaching schedule and my fiance’s demanding work schedule; time was tight. But together he and I decided that it was the right thing to do, so we sacrificed our precious time together so that I could take on the 200-hour program. He was right. I have been blown away by the things that Kate has taught me about my health through proper yoga.
When Kate made the decision to move in another direction with yoga, my fiance and I discussed what it meant to take on another responsibility and commitment. My passion for bringing yoga and health to the community was strong, so with that passion, and unwavering support and love from family and friends, and with Kate’s help, we transitioned into studio owners.
We want to continue to bring you great quality yoga for health and wellness. For us TR Yoga represents family, commitment, support and love, and I couldn’t think of a better gift to give Martin for the years of support and love I have felt.
Together We Grow Stronger…….Angie
